NAPLAN results are in!

15/08/2017
NAPLAN:

I am happy to report that our Naplan results are worthy of celebration.  We accomplished our school’s Explicit Improvement Agenda target of 100% of students in year 3 and year 5 achieving at or above the National Minimum Standards in Reading and Numeracy. This is better than the National percentage!  Our year 3 students’ Reading Upper 2 Bands percentage increased by 10 % from 2016 and our year 5’s bettered our school target of 40% of students in the Upper 2 Bands to reach 43%.  As well, 100% of our year 3 students achieved at or above the National Minimum Standard in Spelling and Writing.  In Grammar and Punctuation 56% of our Year 3 students are in the Upper 2 Bands. What a great result for 2017!  It must be said that these results belong not just to the Year 3 and 5 teachers, but also to the whole staff in our school. Learning begins in Prep and continues all the way through the school, with value adding at each and every step of the journey. The NAPLAN testing is just a point in time test to show where the students are up to at that juncture in their education. As you can see from this data many of our students have done very well in this year’s testing, achieving to their full potential. Whilst this is only one measure of academic success, it is nevertheless a significant indicator of how effectively we, as a school, are ensuring the best possible learning outcomes for all of our students as they move through our school.  It must also be said that these results do not come easily! They are the outcome of a highly dedicated and skillful, professional team, who work tirelessly together, on a day-to-day basis, to make these outcomes a reality.  I know you join me in thanking and congratulating our wonderful staff – teachers and teacher aides for the great work they do. Thanks also to our ancillary staff who keep everything on track so that the rest of us can all stay focused on our core business of teaching and learning. And finally, thank you to you, our parents/carers for your support of our efforts!
Individual NAPLAN reports have been sent home with the Year 3 and 5 students. If you have not received your child’s report please contact the office.
